DPH delivered the installation of new lifting jack bases and associated civils works at Cockfosters Depot for Transport for London, supporting critical depot upgrades as part of the wider programme to accommodate the new Piccadilly Line fleet. The works formed a key enabling activity within the lifting road area, requiring precise execution, robust build quality and strong coordination within a live depot environment.
The scope included the formation of new lifting jack foundations, starting with shuttering and concrete pours to each base. DPH then set in 40 new steel load transfer beams, providing the structural support for the lifting jacks, before completing the installation of reinforcement mesh and screeding. Finishing works included scabbling, screeding, priming, painting and mastic installation to the lifting jack bases and the Oakwood end of the lifting road, delivering a durable, high-quality finish suited to long-term depot use. In parallel, DPH completed the breakout and extension of the inspection pit, including demolition of the separating wall to suit the updated depot layout and operational requirements.
Delivered as a completed package, the works represent a major milestone within the Cockfosters depot upgrade programme, demonstrating DPH’s ability to deliver high-quality, safety-critical depot infrastructure improvements within an operational depot environment.
