DPH delivered an Off-Train Communications (OTC) installation across Cockfosters and Northfields Depots for Transport for London, supporting critical infrastructure upgrades required for the introduction of the new, longer Piccadilly Line trains. Delivered over a 13-month programme, the project required full lifecycle capability, from initial site surveys and detailed design development through to installation, testing and final integration within both live depot environments. The works included the installation of new cable management systems where existing infrastructure was unsuitable, the installation and termination of fibre and communications cabling, installation of bespoke floor-mounted rack solutions, Siemens equipment and all associated supporting framework, alongside dedicated power supplies to for the entire system.
At Cockfosters, DPH installed over 350 metres of new CMS and more than 2,000 metres of fibre and comms cabling, while at Northfields the scope included approximately 500 metres of CMS and nearly 3,000 metres of cabling, delivering OTC coverage across 21 roads within the depot. All activities were executed within busy operational railway facilities, requiring meticulous planning, safe sequencing and close coordination with depot stakeholders to minimise disruption and maintain ongoing operations throughout the installation period.
