FELTHAM DEPOT

DPH delivered a lighting and electrical supplies installation package at Feltham Depot for VolkerFitzpatrick. The project involved the installation of LV distribution and submains cabling across the depot, including glanding and termination works with two significant 900m 185mm² core pulls, alongside a comprehensive lighting installation comprising lighting columns, buffer stop lighting, bollards and bulkheads. DPH also delivered the installation of lightning protection systems, followed by full testing and commissioning of all assets to bring the infrastructure safely into service.

The works were delivered within a complex operational rail environment, requiring careful management of interfaces with mainline activities, plant movements across constrained routes, and coordination with third-party stakeholders. Supply chain constraints and product availability were proactively managed through early engagement with suppliers, staged delivery planning and realistic programme alignment to maintain momentum on site. Environmental considerations were also a key focus, with detailed reviews of designer lux calculations, the incorporation of head hoods to control light spillage, and the completion of pre- and post-installation lux surveys to mitigate impact on neighbouring residents.

 Client requirements were established and maintained through regular programme updates, possession planning and deconfliction meetings, supported by close collaboration between the VolkerFitzpatrick and DPH project teams. Performance against programme targets and KPIs was closely monitored using daily reporting, with additional shifts introduced where necessary to recover time and mitigate the effects of design changes and adverse weather. The project was completed safely, to a high standard of quality and in line with rail industry requirements, demonstrating DPH’s capability to manage complex interfaces and deliver resilient electrical infrastructure within live depot environments.
