DPH delivered a £1.2m commercial and industrial electrical installation package at the National Satellite Testing Facility, working for Dornan Engineering Services Limited on a new-build, high-specification specialist environment over an 18-month programme. The project required robust, coordinated electrical infrastructure to support specialist plant, critical systems and high-integrity technical spaces across the facility.

A major element of DPH’s scope was the installation of extensive containment systems for HV, LV, essential and critical services, data/comms and fire alarm networks. This included HV ladder containment, substantial LV and sub-mains ladder and tray routes, dedicated containment for essential and critical sub-mains, large wire basket networks for data and communications, dedicated fire alarm tray routes, and dado trunking and conduit systems to distribute final circuits and support clean interfaces to equipment throughout the building.

DPH’s electrical fit-out also covered lighting and small power installations across basement, ground and upper levels, including general lighting, emergency lighting, external and roof lighting, lighting controls (including sensors, dimming interfaces and LCM modules), and power supplies to a wide range of electrical assets across the facility. These supplies included switchroom equipment, UPS systems, specialist power supplies, chillers and associated auxiliary supplies, and mechanical ventilation and air conditioning plant. DPH provided supplies and isolation arrangements for crane systems, as well as power and control interfaces for specialist systems including the Hypoxic fire prevention system and other critical life-safety equipment. In parallel, DPH installed general and local small power infrastructure, including socket outlets, fused spurs and commando outlets where required to support maintenance and operational activities within technical areas and plant spaces.

The project was completed with full testing, verification and certification, supporting a compliant handover aligned with the demanding standards expected for a specialist national facility.
