DPH has delivered multiple Signalling Equipment Room (SER) installations and upgrades across the rail network, providing controlled, high-quality M&E delivery within some of the most safety-critical environments on the railway. Our scope of works typically included the installation of LV power supplies and distribution, lighting and small power, containment systems, earthing and bonding, mechanical ventilation and cooling, and fire detection interfaces.
A core strength of DPH’s SER delivery is our focus on testing, commissioning and quality assurance. All installations were subject to rigorous inspection and testing regimes, with commissioning activities carefully planned. DPH maintained full control of assurance documentation throughout, compiling completeMAID handover packs including red line drawings, test and commissioning certificates, ITPs, QA check sheets, asset information andO&M documentation. This disciplined approach ensured that each SER was handed over fully compliant with TfL standards, ready for safe integration into the operational railway.
As part of the 4 Lines Modernisation programme, DPH was contracted to deliver SER upgrade works across seven stations supporting the upgrade of the District, Circle,Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines’ signalling systems. Drawing on extensive experience of working across multiple SER environments, DPH identified opportunities to standardise common scopes of work across sites. This enabled the prefabrication and off-site assembly of key components, significantly reducing installation time on site. Distribution boards were prepared, labelled and configured off site in line with approved DB schedules, while bespoke bracketry was manufactured in accordance with detailed site survey reports. These value-added initiatives improved quality consistency, reduced installation risk and significantly reduced programme durations, demonstrating DPH’s ability to deliver efficient, repeatable and assured outcomes on complex, programme-critical rail upgrades.
